Insulation Grants New Zealand Warm up NZ
Am I eligible?
To be eligible for an insulation grant through the New Zealand Heat Smart Warm up NZ government programme via Kiwi Electrical the following criteria applies:
1. House must be a residential house built before 2000
2. Ceiling and underfloor insulation must be insulated to current standards;
(a) Ceiling - if your insulation is less than 120mm thick and does not comply with NZS:4216 standard, eg gaps between joists, downlight clearances not met etc.
(b) Underfloor - No insulation or insulation not installed to current standard.
So if your home was built before 2000 and the insulation is sub-standard you may be eligible for an EECA subsidy of up to 1/3 of the cost of insulating the enderfloor and ceiling through Kiwi Electrical,
3. Once these 2 main insulation measures are up to standard, then the house qualifies for a clean heat subsidy.
4. Areas that the heat pump can go in
(a) The heat pump must go in the main living area.
(b) You do not qualify for the grant if you are replacing another Clean Heat appliance that is reasonably up to date or you already have an efficient heat source.
(c) In certain circumstances where the occupier is bed ridden for health reasons then we can ask EECA for an exemption to install a clean heat device in the bedroom – but need approval first before doing this.
